Description
The GD-610B Insulator Faults Detector is a handheld, non-contact, live-line safe diagnostic tool designed for 6–500kV transmission lines and substation equipment. It detects ultrasonic signals (40kHz±2Hz) generated by insulator degradation, flashover, partial discharge (PD), corona, or poor contact—without power outage or physical contact.
Integrating a highly sensitive ultrasonic sensor, laser aiming module, DSP processor, and dual feedback (LCD + stereo headphones), it converts inaudible high-frequency discharge signals into clear audio and visual indicators. The rugged, lightweight alloy body ensures reliable outdoor use. It’s the ideal solution for utilities to locate hidden faults, prevent unexplained tripping, and prioritize maintenance.

· Substation Equipment: GIS, breakers, disconnect switches, HV connectors
· Transmission Lines: Overhead lines, pole-mounted equipment, tower components
· Polluted/Coastal Areas: Insulators prone to salt fog, dust, or moisture-induced flashover
Industry-Specific Usage
· Power Utilities: Routine patrol, fault localization after tripping, aging assessment
· Grid Maintenance: Predictive maintenance, zero-value insulator screening
· EHV/HV Substations: Equipment commissioning, periodic PD/corona checks
· Industrial Plants: Internal HV distribution, transformer bushings, switchgear monitoring
Advantages
No Power Outage, 100% Safe
Live-line detection at safe distances—cuts inspection time by 90% vs. traditional methods.
Pinpoint Hidden Faults
Laser + ultrasonic tech finds intermittent flashover and PD that visual inspection misses—reduces unplanned outages.
All-Weather Reliability
IP54, lightweight alloy, and 8-hour battery—works in rain, sun, or high humidity.
Simple Operation, No Training
Aim, listen, read—field technicians master it in 5 minutes.
Cost-Effective Maintenance
Early fault detection extends insulator life—saves replacement costs and outage losses.
FAQ
Q: Can it detect faults on energized lines?
A: Yes. Non-contact ultrasonic design works safely on live 6–500kV lines.
Q: How accurate is the laser positioning?
A: 100% accurate—laser crosshairs mark the exact faulty insulator or component.
Q: What if I can’t hear the discharge?
A: The LCD bar graph shows signal strength visually—no audio required.
Q: Is it hard to use for new technicians?
A: No. One-button operation, intuitive aiming, and clear feedback—minimal training needed.
