Description

RE-TRL is a professional high-precision cable fault pinpointing instrument designed for final precise location of various cable faults in power operation and maintenance teams, cable construction companies, industrial enterprises and municipal engineering departments. It strictly complies with DL/T 849.2-2004, GB/T 12706.1-2020 and DL/T 596-2021 standards, adopting the acoustic-magnetic synchronous time difference positioning principle that uses the propagation speed difference between electromagnetic wave and sound wave to accurately locate fault points, effectively filtering environmental noise and greatly reducing misjudgment rate.
The instrument integrates high-sensitivity piezoelectric acoustic sensor and electromagnetic induction magnetic sensor for synchronous dual-channel acquisition, achieving ±0.1m positioning accuracy. It is equipped with 4 programmable digital filter modes and 80dB continuously adjustable gain, which can effectively suppress on-site environmental noise and clearly capture weak discharge sound signals. It also integrates electronic compass cable path detection function, which can simultaneously complete cable route tracing and fault pinpointing, eliminating the need for an additional path finder. The 3.5-inch high-brightness LCD display is clearly visible under direct sunlight, and the high-fidelity noise-canceling headphone provides dual confirmation of visual waveform and auditory monitoring.

FAQ

Q: How does the acoustic-magnetic synchronous pinpointer work?

A: When the high-voltage signal generator breaks down the cable fault point, the discharge simultaneously generates electromagnetic wave and mechanical sound wave. The electromagnetic wave propagates close to the speed of light and reaches the instrument almost instantaneously as the time zero reference; the sound wave propagates slowly in soil and cable media. The instrument calculates the propagation distance of the sound wave by measuring the time difference between the two signals. The closer to the fault point, the smaller the time difference and the louder the sound. The position with the smallest time difference and the loudest sound is directly above the fault point. This method effectively filters out irrelevant environmental noise and has high positioning accuracy.

Q: What types of cable faults can RE-TRL locate?

A: RE-TRL is suitable for almost all common cable fault types, including: flashover faults that break down under high voltage, high-resistance grounding faults, low-resistance short-circuit faults, disconnection faults, intermediate joint faults, etc. It is applicable to power cables of 0.4kV to 110kV voltage grades. With optional step voltage probe, it can also locate outer sheath damage faults of high-voltage cables. It needs to be used with a high-voltage signal generator (or DC high-voltage power supply) to make the fault point discharge.

Q: What is the advantage of acoustic-magnetic method compared with traditional pure acoustic method?

A: The traditional pure acoustic method only judges by sound, which is easily disturbed by environmental noise such as traffic and construction, with high misjudgment rate and high requirements for operator experience. The acoustic-magnetic synchronous method uses the magnetic signal as the time reference to match and verify the sound signal, which can filter out more than 90% of irrelevant noise, has stronger anti-interference ability, more accurate positioning, lower dependence on operator experience, and higher first-time pinpointing success rate.

Q: Can this instrument detect the cable path by itself?

A: Yes. RE-TRL integrates the electronic compass cable path detection function. It can not only pinpoint the fault point, but also detect the laying direction and approximate position of the cable, which is convenient for operators to find the cable path quickly when the cable drawing is missing or inaccurate. One instrument completes path tracing and fault pinpointing, eliminating the need to carry an additional path finder and improving on-site work efficiency.
