Description

HPCI-BX series is a professional digital portable power frequency large current generator (primary current injector) designed for on-site circuit breaker trip verification, current transformer ratio calibration, busbar current carrying test and protection relay commissioning in substations, power distribution rooms, electrical equipment factories and on-site maintenance teams. It strictly complies with DL/T 848.2-2018, GB/T 14048.1 and IEC 60947-1 standards, adopting low-power large-capacity auto-transformer + high-permeability silicon steel core transformer that delivers stable output with small volume and light weight, ideal for mobile field testing.
The series covers 500A to 2000A multiple rated current specifications, with innovative series/parallel dual-range switching design to flexibly match different test current and voltage requirements. It adopts true RMS digital measurement technology with Class 1.0~0.5 accuracy, and supports synchronous operation time measurement with 1ms resolution, capable of testing NO/NC contact states of protection devices. The unique dual working modes — standard zero-position protection mode and circuit breaker surge test mode — meet both routine safety test and fast instantaneous trip test requirements.

FAQ

Q: What is the function of series/parallel switching?

A: Series/parallel switching allows one device to adapt to different test requirements: series mode provides higher open circuit voltage, suitable for test objects with large impedance such as long cables and multi-series samples; parallel mode provides larger output current, suitable for low-impedance test objects such as busbars and large cross-section conductors. This design doubles the application range of the device and improves cost performance.

Q: What is the difference between this portable model and the desktop pointer type GDSL-M-2000A?

A: The main differences are:
  • Portability: HPCI-BX adopts integrated lightweight design with casters, especially suitable for on-site mobile testing; GDSL-M is a fixed desktop model, more suitable for laboratory and production line fixed use
  • Display & function: HPCI-BX has digital display + built-in timing + surge mode, richer functions; GDSL-M has pointer display with strong anti-interference, focusing on basic current output
  • Accuracy: HPCI-BX has Class 0.5~1.0 higher accuracy; GDSL-M has Class 1.5 accuracy for basic test
  • Application: HPCI-BX is for field maintenance and on-site acceptance; GDSL-M is for factory production line and laboratory temperature rise test

Q: Can it test the tripping time of circuit breakers?

A: Yes. HPCI-BX has built-in high-precision timing function with 1ms resolution. It can synchronously start timing when outputting current, and automatically stop timing when detecting the contact action signal of the circuit breaker, accurately measuring the total action time of the circuit breaker from current input to contact action. It supports both normally open and normally closed contact types, and is suitable for action characteristic test of various circuit breakers and relays.

Q: What is the surge test mode used for?

A: In standard mode, the device must return to zero position before starting output, and the current rises slowly, which cannot meet the test requirements of instantaneous trip circuit breakers. The surge test mode can bypass the zero-position protection, quickly output the set large current, simulate the short-circuit impact state, and is specially used for testing the instantaneous tripping characteristics of circuit breakers and verifying the action reliability of protection devices under short-circuit current.
