FAQ
Q: What is the principle of colorimetric method for insulating oil pH testing?
A: The principle is based on the reaction between water-soluble acid in the oil and the indicator solution. A certain volume of oil sample is mixed with an equal volume of distilled water, heated to 60℃ and oscillated to extract the water-soluble acid into the water phase. After oil-water separation, a specific indicator (bromocresol green for running oil) is added to the water phase. The color of the solution changes according to the pH value, and the pH value is determined by comparing the color with standard color cards using a high-resolution CCD sensor.
Q: How long does a typical test take?
A: A complete test for 4 samples including heating to 60℃, oscillation, static layering, color development, colorimetric measurement and result printing takes approximately 20~25 minutes. This is much faster than manual testing which usually takes 1~2 hours.
Q: How to calibrate the instrument?
A: The instrument has a built-in standard color card calibration program. Users can place the standard color cards (with known pH values) into the test position, and the instrument will automatically calibrate the colorimetric system. This calibration method is simple, fast and accurate.
Q: Does it require manual addition of reagents?
A: Yes. The user needs to add the oil sample and distilled water to the test cups before starting the test. The instrument will automatically add the indicator solution during the test process. The indicator solution is prepared according to the standard formula and is commercially available.
Q: Can it be used for on-site testing?
A: Yes. GDRS-410 has a compact and portable design with a total weight of only 25kg. It does not require any external auxiliary equipment and can be easily transported to the site for testing. It is suitable for both laboratory and on-site applications.
