Description

PDM-505 is a professional portable partial discharge (PD) patrol tester designed for live on-site detection, routine inspection and fault location of medium and high voltage electrical equipment including switchgears, transformers, GIS, cable joints and instrument transformers in substations, power plants, industrial enterprises and commercial buildings. It strictly complies with IEC 60270, GB/T 7354-2003 and DL/T 417-2006 standards, adopting high-speed synchronous acquisition technology and multi-sensor fusion detection scheme that effectively identifies internal insulation defects and avoids unexpected insulation breakdown accidents.
The instrument features 2 independent measurement channels with up to 100MHz sampling rate per channel, achieving 1pC ultra-high detection sensitivity and more than 80dB dynamic range, capable of capturing weak partial discharge signals in early insulation failure. It is compatible with both acousto-electric integrated sensors and high frequency current transformers (HFCT), covering detection requirements of different equipment types. The programmable digital filtering technology effectively suppresses on-site power frequency interference and electromagnetic noise, ensuring accurate and reliable test results in complex field environments.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between acousto-electric sensor and HFCT sensor?

A: The two sensors are suitable for different test scenarios:
  • Acousto-electric sensor: Non-contact measurement, suitable for surface discharge detection of switchgears and cabinet equipment, no need to connect to the circuit, convenient for rapid patrol inspection
  • HFCT sensor: Clamp-on installation on the grounding wire, suitable for discharge detection of cables, transformers and other equipment with grounding wires, higher detection sensitivity for internal discharge
PDM-505 is compatible with both sensors, and users can select the appropriate sensor according to the test object.

Q: What does 1pC detection sensitivity mean?

A: pC (picocoulomb) is the unit of partial discharge apparent charge, which characterizes the intensity of partial discharge. 1pC sensitivity means the instrument can stably detect discharge signals as weak as 1 picocoulomb, which is sufficient to capture early weak insulation defects of electrical equipment, and realize early warning before insulation failure.

Q: Can PDM-505 perform live detection without power outage?

A: Yes. PDM-505 is specially designed for live patrol inspection. The acousto-electric sensor adopts non-contact detection, and the HFCT sensor is clamped on the external grounding wire. Both methods do not need to disconnect the equipment or stop operation, and can detect partial discharge during normal operation of the equipment, which does not affect the normal power supply.

Q: How to calibrate the instrument?

A: PDM-505 should be calibrated with a standard partial discharge calibrator that meets metrological requirements. The calibration steps are as follows:
  1. Connect the standard calibrator to the test port of the instrument
  2. Input standard discharge signals of known charge quantity
  3. Enter the calibration mode of the instrument
  4. Complete the calibration of each range according to the prompts
  5. The instrument will automatically save the calibration coefficients
